Hi, I’m Dr. Beth Freedman and I am an Ivy League educated, NYC trained, Top Doctor. I practiced in NYC and Westchester, NY for 10 years as a breast surgeon. I’ve treated all types of breast cancer, and most stages. I transitioned to breast cancer coaching to have a deeper connection with patients, and help them navigate this complex world of treatment.

Helping patients understand their diagnosis and make a successful treatment plan is my passion. I would like to help you make informed decisions, which will lead to the best outcomes. I will do this by explaining your options in plain English.

Many patients would walk into my office with a list of specific questions: What type of reconstruction should I do after my double mastectomy? Will my hair fall out from chemotherapy? Will I need to be screened more closely in the future? Are my family members now at high risk?

While these are all very reasonable questions, many times, they weren’t related to the type of breast cancer that patient had. The patient asking about the bilateral (double) mastectomy sometimes had a cancer smaller than 1 cm, for whom a mastectomy may have been overkill. And the one asking about chemotherapy might not have a type that is even sensitive to chemo.

Breast cancer is a broad term which includes many different sub-types, all with different treatments and prognoses. Treatments are tailored to the specific patient based on the characteristics of that cancer. The information on the internet can be blinding.

Let’s demystify breast cancer together.
